Me on a date: so what are your opinions on supernatural?
Them: John is a horrible father who aimed for good but missed by a landslide made of alcohol and abuse. Bobby was the stitch to hold the ripped family together; weakening over time. Sam, though the youngest, stepped in line to protect the family- Dean- from a distance while ignoring most of his own needs including sacrificing the option of a family. Dean was doing his very best to take the position of the protector for Sam but ignored his own life to the point of giving up his life more than 155 times, an apple pie family, and death. Dean overall was the one who needed someone to need him. That's where Castiel steps in and takes that role upon himself. Aside from obviously saving both boys' lives countless times, Cas also needs protections from demons, angels, and even himself; receiving this safety- the majority of the time- from Dean. These two absolutely need each other to survive even if they cant find a middle ground to meet. But never forget that Sam only wants his older brother safe and is fighting the idea that that can never truly happen.
Me *shoves entire dinner table into purse*: shall we take this to the bedroom?
I was just watching this and I think Jared does a very good job of conveying (with only his eyes!) how unusual it is for Dean to disobey or contradict their father (1x20)
